Inspirational Poetry Books

Miss Holly, Mary's physical therapist who helped her to recover from paralytic polio when she was just five years old, beginning in 1959, would read Dr. Seuss to Mary before every painful physical therapy session. As she would coax muscles and nerves back to health, she would have Mary join her in reciting The Cat In The Hat, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Horton Hears a Who or one of the selections Mary would make in the waiting room of her rehab physician's office.

In December 2006, life as Mary McManus had come to know it came to a screeching halt. She was diagnosed with post polio syndrome at Spaulding Rehab's International Rehab Center for Polio. But out of the pain, weakness, fatigue and an uncertain future, Mary discovered the gift of poetry in her soul. She returned to the cadence of Dr. Seuss to heal her life a second time only this time, she was the one holding the pen. As she wrote New World Greetings:Inspirational Poetry and Musings for a New World, she felt as though she were taking dictation; that the messages of love, hope, healing, urging people to move beyond limited thinking and feelings of lack and limitation were flowing through her at warp speed. Mary's sequel to "New World Greetings", is Set Sail for a New World:Healing a Life Through The Gift of Poetry.

Mary was a presenter at the 2009 Massachusetts Poetry Festival. Her poems have been selected for Living Smart and Well, The Inez Bracy Show on Blog Talk Radio, It's All About You on Blog Talk Radio, and "New World Greetings:Inspirational Poetry and Musings for a New World" was selected by WBZ's Jordan Rich for his selected reading list in 2008.
